Day 157.
Graduation!
Reharsal at 8am was horrible. Beando said to be there for 8, and most of the class didn’t show up until around 8:30. I hate lateness. Then the hour or so of awards was obnoxious, it could have been on a different day. Rehearsal itself was badly organized and nothing like the setup at the DCU center would be like. The left side messed up and we only went through it once. Went to Cait’s once again afterwards for pictures. Waited almost 20 minutes for Casey to show up. The picture taking was fun. Our parents had us squinting at the sun though, and my dad doesn’t know how to use my camera or the concept of fill flash, so in all the pictures our faces are full of shadows.
Graduation itself was as I predicted it to be. Very long, and not very engaging. The speeches were typical and cliched. I did like Monica’s and Cody’s. They were personable, and endearing. I just knew Cody was going to say “May The Force Be With You” at the end of his speech; it made me smile. Diplomas took forever, having 448 kids walk at graduation ensures a lengthy ceremony. Melanie snuck in various contraband items: beach balls, a blow up seahorse, badminton birdies, balloons. Everyone ignored the adminstrators warnings not to throw caps at the end, and did it anyways. I wasn’t very sad, I haven’t been back to school since the last day, I didn’t have to take finals, and I didn’t go to the Arts Encore awards. I had already distanced myself.
